ALCo RS-1 Tidewater Southern (Western Pacific) #746

One of the most interesting things about this particular TS unit is the asymetrical billboard lettering. After careful study of prototype photos of the actual locomotive, I positioned the decals to exactly match both in height and spacing.

Another interesting detail is the plated over cab windows, a common feature on these locomotives (and this particular unit) when glass panels became either scarce or too expensive and an unnecessary expense.

The realistic light weathering matches photographs taken of #746 in the late 1960's and early 1970's. Muddy pilot and slightly rusty trucks really make the locomotive stand out from the shiny ready to run crowd.
